Trial really needs to stop having reunions that aren't in my backyard. :(

Things haven't been too shabby around here. I quit my job and am now trying to make my financial contribution by knitting stuff. Well that and student loans. My shoulder is shot thanks to waiting tables so there can be no more of that. The temperature is dropping considerably and I suddenly realize that I didn't take advantage of the summer and didn't fully embrace it enough, and now it is gone. I truly hate the winter.

My good friend Sean is visiting Matt and I for the week so that is a really nice change. All of my friends live too far away.

I have mixed feelings about the fact that Seth Rogan is going to be the Green Hornet. I love Seth Rogan and I love the Green Hornet, but I am not too sure the two go together.

This semester is going on forever...

[mood | sleepy]

I am getting into the groove of commuting to school. Luckily I have become so addicted to listening to audio books that I actually enjoy the drive. I was right that my US History class would be a complete waste of time, but since it is a huge lecture class I can just sit in the back and read or knit. So far the writing assignments have been a joke but I guess I should expect that from a class that I SHOULD have taken in my first year.

Matt and I have been thinking a lot about what we are going to do when we finish college. Depending on what kind of program he gets into he could be teaching next fall. I am already in an accelerated teaching program but I wont be teaching for a couple years yet most likely. I just have too much left to do, and too many pointless classes under my belt. *cough* Texas Government *cough* Other than a nagging worry at living so far away from my dad as he gets older we are growing more and more secure in the idea that we want to move out of the country ASAP. We have been thinking about our choices a lot and have basically decided (assuming we like it after a visit) on New Zealand. I have been getting very excited about it as I research more, it seems like a really incredible place. There is just something so incredible about the aspect of being able to go to a beautiful tropical beach in the morning, check out some snow related activities in the mountains at lunch and then maybe go for a hike through the rainforest in the evening. They also have a fabulous education system and are avidly recruiting foreigners to teach. Of course those are only a few of the reasons. If only I didn't have so much time left in school, it seems like a million years away. I'm not too worried about leaving my friends since I have convinced myself I just have to make them visit and they won't want to leave. ;)

On a different subject I started my first dose of allergy shots today. I have become allergic to everything in the last couple years and my life has suffered miserably because of it, even if it takes several months I am really looking forward to getting over this nonsense.

[mood | sleepy]

Yesterday was the first day of the new semester and what a very long day it was. I am commuting 45 minutes to the University now, but that is what I have to do to complete my major in Art Education and still be able to see Matt everyday. My bright idea was to take all my classes in 2 or 3 days so basically on Tues and Thurs I have class from 11am to 7:40pm. Holy mackerel that is a long day to be sitting in classes! I also have class on Friday from 11am to 4:30pm.

It should be an interesting semester though, I am taking a print making class that entails block prints made from everything from cardboard to linoleum to wood. I am also taking a metal working class with a focus on fine jewelry. I don't really have an affinity towards jewelry, but I think I will enjoy it none the less. Although carrying the saw that I was rented to the car yesterday got me some interesting stares. I am taking a run of the mill drawing class on Friday but as Friday hasnt come yet, I have no idea what the professor will be like. The professor in my print making class is 100% crazy.

Then non art related I am taking Teaching Exceptional Students which should keep me adequately depressed for the duration of the semester. At least the professor is cheery enough. I am also taking History of the United States. I really didn't want to take it but it is required for the Teacher Certification, so here I am. The History class is in a concert hall, full of 300 people that don't know how to shut up and stop shuffling their papers. I swear it feels like an assembly in high school.... Must be all the freshmen that still think they are in high school... The professor is just as nuts as my print making professor, apparently his favorite thing to do is put up pictures of people, tell you they are one person and then later tell you it was all a big joke, and that it was in fact this other person. Of course we are all gullible fools that didn't live in the 1800's so what the hell do we know except what he tells us. I would say it is going to get old but the fact that we sit in comfy chairs in a almost dark room is going to put me to sleep long before anything can get old.

Life other than school is going pretty good. I am dreading the coming of winter because now that class has started I know it is right around the corner. Hopefully we will be coming to Texas over Thanksgiving break but I have to talk to my professors first, since I don't have to full week off.

Married life is still fabulous, Matt and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary in July. He is starting his last undergrad year and then hopefully will be accepted into one of the accelerated programs in the area. (I am already in an accelerated program.)

I hope you all are doing well!

So we just got home from 9 days on Martha's Vineyard working with the family I work with. It was pretty sweet. We stayed in this crazy awesome house that was built in 1716, and next door they have a house that was on 'This Old House' and was taken apart and transported/rebuilt on the island. I could say alot more, but I am far beyond exhausted as I've been spending 12 to 14 hours a day chasing around kids.

School starts next week, and then we go to Baltimore for Comic Con and to see my uncle. Oh yeah for you comic nerds, my uncle is the head administrator of the Harvey Awards and they are going to be at the Baltimore Comic Con this year. Maybe he will introduce us to someone cool.

Yeah I am completely and utterly exhausted. Goodnight.

Summer Time [Jun. 6th, 2008|11:19 pm]
Texas bound on Friday for the first time since I moved away.
Next week is all about waterparks, family and 90 degree weather.
Hanging out with at least Sarah, and maybe Chris and Jason.

When we come home we are having a potluck BBQ.

Our anniversary is a month away, its crazy. We are going to Dorney Park, playing some sweet mini golf and hanging out in the Jacuzzi in our cool hotel room. Yeah, we are awesome.

August brings California family and a trip to DC, and a possible trip to Seattle for the Penny Arcade convention and hanging out with Timm, and more touristy stuff for Matt since he has never been.

Then back to school, full time.

Somewhere in there a couple trips to Philly will happen.

I miss people, but life is good. and busy with crazy projects.

PS. I really want to take an insane adventure trip somewhere crazy.

Well, hello there. [May. 9th, 2008|08:06 am]
I don't usually use this journal anymore as Ive moved to using Vox instead. But today I feel like coming here instead. Life is pretty cool. I'm glad that winter is finally over, it is something you don't realize until you live it, but winter brings depression and it SUCKS. It is also nice because we are working in the yard and putting in a pond and a giant vegetable garden this year. Especially cool for me because I am working on shifting my diet to more of a raw vegan diet, I'm pretty over all this processed crap that I eat.

I am going back to school in the fall, now that I will finally be a legal resident of Connecticut and can somewhat afford to. I am majoring in English/Literature and a minor in Art with a goal to get my PhD in Lit. Right now I am still working as a behavioral therapist with a pretty wonderful autistic child. Life is becoming more fulfilling and I haven't waited tables in a year. I also don't have life insurance, but I take it as it comes.

Matt and I will be celebrating our 1st anniversary in two months at Dorney Park, since well, we love amusement parks a LOT. I'm pretty stoked. Married life is really awesome, I'm finally used to being married and being Mrs. Loter. Matt is the inspiration in my life and I couldn't be happier with him.

We are finally coming to Texas in June, but only for 5 days and will basically be spending all of our time in DFW. I would love to see a few people but oddly enough, not very many and just can't afford to make it down to Austin right now. With the last two planned trips were halted due to the failing health and passing away of Matt's grandfather, it has been 2 and a half years since I have set my foot upon Texas land. I am excited.

Well Livejournal friends, I miss some of you dearly, but it is now time to start my day. Love you guys.

Whaaaat? an update from meeee? [Dec. 6th, 2007|03:00 pm]
[Current Location |my corner of the desk]
[mood | thoughtful]

Today I met the amazing little boy that Im going to be working with. His name is Henry and he is 4 and a half. Im very excited to be doing something that will truly help someone. I never thought that I would be a therapist for an autistic child, but now that I am going to be it feels very natural as if this was a path, if not the only path I was meant to take. Im still kicking it at the GV part time for now as well, but sooner than later the demolition will start and Stamford will be saying goodbye to its rock climbing gym. I think its good to see the gym go before it hits rock bottom, although I think its going to be quite the reality check for some of the employees. On top of those two things Im trying to get my stuff organized so I can start selling my knit/crochet stuff and some other things I work on so that will be awesome to get off the ground.

Tonight we are going to a guitar hero competition that is a benifet for CHILDS PLAY. Childs Play is an incredible charity organization ran by the guys over at Penny Arcade, it is truly 100% charity with no administrative costs or percentage taken out for anything. The charity is set up to donate toys and games directly to childrens hospitals. Check out their site, and even if you just donate a deck of Uno or something it really does help keep these kids focused on better things during such a crappy time.

On a lighter note, Im going to go tackle some more of Zelda. the Nintendo Wii is everything I could have ever hoped for in a gaming system. Yes Im a nerd, and no I dont care.

ps. Matt and I have been married 5 months this Friday, so far its been the most incredible journey and I know its only going to get better. Love is pretty sweet.

Things are pretty sweet.

I really like working at the gym. I get to teach lots of little kids how to rock climb and get over their fears and stuff. Its pretty much the perfect job for where I am in my life right now. Now that my ovarian cyst is in the past I can focus on getting back in shape and climbing is damn good at taking me down that road. Oh, yeah. Did I mention Matt and I own a Rock Climbing pro shop now? yep. It is called 'Get Stoked!' and our grand opening will be very soon. We had a traumatizing weekend, our new little hamster friend got super sick and passed away, quite the bum out. In other news life goes on as it ever did, Im trying terribly hard to remember to capitalize the letters at the beginning of sentences, I havent used an instant messenger in over a year and I still have the same bad habits from it. The family is good, its pretty neat having in-laws, and this Thanksgiving Matt gets to meet many more of his in-laws. Im pretty stoked about the trip to Texas, hopefully we can hit up the Cosmic Cafe and maybe the aquarium or something equally cheesy and touristy. Im determined to show Matt that Texas isnt all El Paso. But alas, at least it will be a tad bit warmer there. Its interesting to read old posts of mine and remember how things once were, my life is so different now. Not so much because of any certain thing or person, more because I feel like Im a complete person these days. Life is fulfilling in a way it wasnt for so many years.

ps. I cant wait to see Borat.

[music |Set Your Goals]

i just deleted a bunch of crap off of my ipod i dont listen to. its crazy what bands im so completely over and more interesting how alot of crappy demos i dont remember snaked there way onto it.

winter is around the corner, i feel it and of course therefore am sick. at least Autumn is beautiful here, makes the coming of winter a little less difficult to deal with. i always thought i would love real winters when i was in texas.

i was delusional.

im excited to visit my parents for thanksgiving, we are poor so we wont be making it down to austin this trip but if anyone is in the dfw area for the holiday (im looking at you sarah) we should try to get some dinner or something. it will be my first trip back to texas, i cant believe its been almost two years, but at the same time so much has happened it feels like even longer.

Other than being sick life has been fabulous. I have the greatest husband, Im working at a rock climbing gym and letting my artsy side take over me. especially been crocheting lately and working on things like this...

[mood | tired]

so i spent 7 hours in the hospital today. apparently what we thought was kidney stones and infection was in fact an ovarian cyst slightly smaller than a golf ball. unfortunately its causing a massive amount of pain which can be signs of something dire, but wont really know until several weeks of evaluation. meh.

other than the lethargy that comes with health conditions life is incredible. married life at that. it was pretty crazy being called Mrs. Loter all day today. I never did post about the wedding and honeymoon but really its too much to try to cram into a few paragraphs. we do have tons of great photos though, and we also got our tattooed diamonds. diamonds really are forever, who knew? all i can really say is everything was absolutely perfect, and everyday matt and i still fall more in love.

well more doctor crap in the morning so off to sleep i go.
